The Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) (Bengali:বাংলাদেশ প্রিমিয়ার লীগ) is a professional domestic Twenty20 cricket tournament in Bangladesh which was established in 2012. The Bangladesh Premier League replaced the previous competition, the National Cricket League Twenty20, and features city-based franchises instead of the divisional teams which had participated previously and continue to do so in other domestic competitions. The third season of BPL is scheduled to take place in November 2015 with six teams taking part.
From when BPL start?
Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) was first started 2012. The tournament was inspired by the IPL– Indian Premier League. In the first tournament, 6 franchises participated corresponding to the 6 divisions of Bangladesh. They were:
- Dhaka Gladiators,
- Duronto Rajshahi,
- Chittagong Kings,
- Barisal Burners,
- Khulna Royal Bengals
- Sylhet Royals.
The 2nd season of BPL was even more exciting by the addition of another team Rangpur Riders.Mashrafe Mortaza was captain Dhaka Gladiators to glory on both occasions. Barisal Burners were the runners-up in 2012 and Chittagong Kings were the runners-up in 2013. BPL didn’t occur for more than 2 years. So, this season will be even more exciting one.
